What if something as simple as a bicycle could change a child's world?
This week's Local We Love is Going Places, a Mount Pleasant-based nonprofit making childhood a little brighter, one bicycle at a time!
It all began when local first-grade teacher Katie Blomquist discovered that one of her students had never owned a bike. What started as a mission to help her students grew into something extraordinary!
Today, Going Places has provided more than 5,500 brand-new bicycles to children, giving them more than just wheels. They're giving kids independence, confidence, adventure, and the simple joy of being a kid.
And the mission continues! Going Places hopes to deliver 1,200 bicycles to children at three Title I schools in 2026.
Want to help spread the joy? Families and businesses can donate, volunteer, or sponsor a bike.
